The three previous reviews have said it all. This is an excellent program and phillipe just makes things click. I am doing all the excersices and finally getting the proper reactions for me and my horse. |

Disc 1 - Outstanding,

An excellent introduction to the early training of the horse. Includes diagrams that are very helpful in understanding the live demonstrations on the DVD. Packed full of information - I watched it several times and took detailed notes since there was so much there and I wanted to apply it over a period of time. Equally helpful for the rider and for ground work. Highly recommended even for beginners - it's not hard to understand but it also contains much for the advanced student. |

Enough cannot be said for Phillipe Karl. He is generous and detailed in explaining his advanced techniques. His knowledge and sound reasons behind the training of the movements are meticulous. His book 'Twisted Truths Of Modern Dressage' is also fascinating and he addresses every possible concept of Classical vs. Modern Dressage. |

Excellent Disc 1,

Absolutely, EXCELLENT! It's so hard to find instructors who says what they do. And he does. I've never completely understood the relaxing of the jaw and he did an excellent job. My hands finally got the education that they needed. It felt great to the horse and horses. My other horses were standing around and they fell asleep. My horse that I was working with, relaxed and it actually transfer to me. I did this first on the ground.
When I got in the saddle, my hands still remembered and my horse and I were the most relaxed we have ever been.
Phillippe talks about the lateral movements. He not only talked about it but told where the horse's weight is and how the horse is balancing. We must put our weight where they are puting their weight otherwise we're fighting with the balance.
I asked my horse for a shoulder-in and it was the best we have ever done. Also, Phillippe says if the horse's head goes up, we must raise the reins, not pull up or pull back but raise them and this puts us in balance with the horse. We stay with the horse. Now when the horse gets better balance stronger muscles this won't happen but while the horse is learning this is what we must do to stay with them. This also keeps them from leaning on the bit and using our hands as a fifth leg.
My horse not once got behind the bit. He was so much happier and was trying so hard all at the same time.
It was so relaxing and it was the best.
EXCELLENT. Not only was it excellent but I was able to go right out and do it without resistance, although I needed someone there to tell me to raise my hands, because I'm not use to doing that. A habit I will need to learn. Follow the head...
This is a must have. |
